Our cause on Radio and TV, Part 1

This is coverage from the start of our campaign (28th Sept - 18th Oct 2016). For most recent coverage, go to part 3.

Radio Kerry covered the topic again on the Kerry Today programme on 18th October, however this was not podcast and no recording is currently available. A summary was posted on Radio Kerry website:

A Kerry TD says there needs to be flexibility in national HSE policy when it comes to the future of St Mary of the Angels in Beaufort. The HSE policy of decongregation aims to offer residents the option to move into the community. Families of the 77 residents argue this is a one size fits all policy and will not work for everyone, particularly those with severe and profound disabilities. Fine Gael TD Brendan Griffin has invited Minister with responsibility for Disability Issues Finian McGrath, who is in favour of decongregation, to see the facility. At a meeting with the HSE yesterday, attended by Kerry Oireachtas members and county councillors, Brendan Griffin suggested a solution that houses could be built on the campus for residents.
